The literature on Justin Martyr has focused almost exclusively on the concept of λόγος present in his work, considered the key to his thinking and the symbol of his main contribution to the history of philosophy and Christianity. However, a more detailed analysis of his writings reveals that the concept functions differently from what is proposed by traditional interpretation. In this research, we demonstrate that the argumentative structure of Justin’s two apologies is based on two concepts—that is, two λόγος—which, when correlated with two others—the σοφιαι—confirm the author’s argumentative framework. The discovery of this dual conceptual dimension opens up a new way of reading Justin and allows for a deeper understanding of his historical contribution to philosophy and Christianity, as well as its potential relevance for contemporary reflection.
