description The objective was to compare the dandruff of dirty and washed fleece in topographic regions of the vicuña (Vicugna vicugna mensalis). The sample consisted of 55 fleeces of vicuña fiber and the following steps were taken to obtain the results; the vicuña fleece was divided into 15 uniform quadrants of 40 cm x 40 cm, delimited in a frame of 1.20 m long x 2 m wide, corresponding to different topographic zones of the animal's body. The following are used: AI = right arm, AII = neck, AIII = left arm, BI = right shoulder, BII = withers, BIII = left shoulder, CI = right rib, CII = back, CIII = left rib, DI = right flank, DII = loin, DIII = left flank, EI = right thigh, EII = rump and EIII = left thigh. For unwashed vicuña fiber, the highest percentage of dandruff was identified in the DII sector (10.45%), corresponding to the back, and high ranges in sectors such as EII (8.65%), CII (7.05%), and DI (7.33%). The lowest percentage was in AIII (4.69%), corresponding to the left arm. The total sum of dandruff was 19,385.00 units. In comparison, for washed vicuña fiber, the DII sector also showed the highest percentage (11.36%), with high ranges in EII (8.85%), CII (7.10%), and DI (7.56%). The lowest percentage was recorded in AIII (4.46%). The total sum of dandruff after washing was 7,491.00 units. The analysis reveals a 61.36% reduction in dander after washing, representing 38.64% of the original units. The washing efficiency ranged between 56.91% and 64.81% reduction. These results indicate that the washing process significantly decreased the presence of dandruff in the different topographic areas of the vicuña fleece; There is a significant difference at p=0 <0.05, from the pre and post tests for ("AI", "AII", "AIII", "BI", "BII", "BIII","CII", "CIII", "DI", "DII", "DIII", "EI", "EII", "EIII"), which is different between pre and post wash, having good efficiency in removing dandruff.
