The magazine The Ilustred Peru (1887-1892), directed by Bacigalupi and Matto de Turner, is taken as a reference to demonstrate the functionality of the press by promoting and reorienting culture towards a materialistic approach. On the one hand, through the tense semiotics developed by Jacques Fontanille, relevant meanings originate from the fields of expression and content, essential to investigate to understand the purpose of advertising images. Likewise, through Landowski's regimes of meaning (manipulation and programming), it is evident how a fashion is established in consumers due to their claim to acquire the products that are subjected to the sale of the market. Universidad Nacional Hermilio Valdizán2021-01-31info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdftext/htmlhttp://revistas.unheval.edu.pe/index.php/riv/article/view/87310.33554/riv.15.1.873Investigación Valdizana; Vol. 15 No. 1 (2021); 41-50Investigación Valdizana; Vol. 15 Núm. 1 (2021); 41-50Investigación Valdizana; v. 15 n. 1 (2021); 41-501995-445X1994-1420reponame:Revistas - Universidad Nacional Hermilio Valdizáninstname:Universidad Nacional Hermilio Valdizaninstacron:UNHEVALspahttp://revistas.unheval.edu.pe/index.php/riv/article/view/873/797http://revistas.unheval.edu.pe/index.php/riv/article/view/873/822Derechos de autor 2021 Jesús M.
