The objective of this study was to recognize and identify the presence of native stingless bees and their interaction on a farm located in the community of Los Lajones, Cañazas District, Veraguas, Panama. Diverse transect sampling and qualitative and quantitative direct observation were carried out. To capture samples, the active method of obtaining nests and, sometimes, a small net was used. Taxonomic identification was carried out with entomological keys, resulting in two genera in total. Seven specimens were found distributed in one genus in transect one [Trigona (Fabricius,1804)], while in the second transect, two genera were found (Trigona and Partamona Schwarz, 1938), with Partamona being the one with the greatest presence with three species. Most bees presented similarities in their vegetative preferences, with a high inclination towards vegetation with flowers and seeds. Their behavior in the nests is organized and, in some cases, defensive. Flight activity revealed interesting patterns in resource collection and threats that may influence its biodiversity were identified.Las abejas sin aguijón o meliponinos, forman un grupo de abejas sociales clasificadas en la tribu Meliponini (Apidae Meliponini). Los meliponinos de América son abejas autóctonas, lo que las convierte en los principales polinizadores de la flora en regiones tropicales y subtropicales. El objetivo de este estudio fue reconocer e identificar la presencia de abejas nativas sin aguijón y su interacción en una finca ubicada en la comunidad de Los Lajones, Distrito de Cañazas, Veraguas, Panamá. Se realizaron muestreos de transectos variables y observación directa cualitativa y cuantitativa. Para la captura de las muestras se utilizó el método activo de obtención de nidos y, en ocasiones, una pequeña red. La identificación taxonómica se realizó con claves entomológicas, resultando en dos géneros en total. Se encontraron siete especímenes distribuidos en un género en el transecto uno [Trigona (Fabricius,1804)], mientras que en el transecto dos se hallaron dos géneros (Trigona y Partamona Schwarz, 1938), siendo Partamona el de mayor presencia con tres especies. La mayoría de las abejas presentaron similitudes en sus preferencias vegetativas, con alta inclinación hacia vegetación con flores y semillas. Su comportamiento en los nidos es organizado y, en algunos casos, defensivo. La actividad de vuelo reveló patrones interesantes en la recolección de recursos y se identificaron amenazas que pueden influir en su biodiversidad.Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal.
