The article´s objective is to support the strategic importance for Forestry expanding is knowledge and practices by incorporating the conceptual development of the words contain- ing the prefixes bio and eco into its philosophical, theoretical, methodological, and procedural frameworks. From this review and reflection, it is clear that the it is clear that the language of forest, framed within Cartesian epistemology and a disjunctive ontology, is restricted to conven- tional view of its object of study, which refers to forests in terms of management, conservation, and restoration. This institutionalized, normalized, and standardized language is reinforced by national and international institutions that reflect economic and political interests. However, by understood as socio-ecosystems that are part of a complex reality, the scope of action expands to global level, emphazing interdependent relationships and focusing on the preservation of life in all its manifestations. Knowledge and application of terms that include the prefixes bio and eco are relevant to forestry sciences, as they provide tools for describing, interpreting, and explaining the relationships between humans and forests.El presente artículo trata de la relación entre las palabras que contienen los prefijos bio y eco y las Ciencias Forestales. Es objetivo del artículo es sustentar la importancia estratégica que las Cien- cias Forestales amplíen sus conocimientos y prácticas mediante la incorporación del desarrollo conceptual de las palabras que contienen los prefijos bio y eco en sus marcos filosóficos, teóricos, metodológicos y procedimentales. De la revisión y reflexión, se encuentra que el lenguaje de las Ciencias Forestales, enmarcado en una epistemología cartesiana y una ontología disyuntiva, se limita a una visión convencional de su objeto de estudio que refiere a los bosques en términos de manejo, conservación y restauración. Este lenguaje institucionalizado, normalizado y estandariza- do, se encuentra reforzado por la institucionalidad nacional e internacional que reflejan intereses económicos y políticos. Sin embargo, al entender a los bosques como socioecosistemas que forman parte de la realidad compleja, el campo de acción se amplía a nivel planetario, poniendo énfasis en las relaciones interdependientes y orientándose hacia la preservación de la vida en todas sus manifestaciones.
