Academic production in public university institutions in Ecuador reflects significant changes in publications at the national and international level. Thus, the research started from the quantitative approach, descriptive level, where the bibliometric indicator of the UNACH repository, publications were reviewed between 2014 to 2022. The main results showed that the teachers of the Communication Career generated a greater number of publications since 2019, especially in 2022. In addition, there is interest in academic production on regional research, magazines with preference in Spanish, without a tendency towards specific topics. It is concluded that, after strengthening public policies in research, anchored to the use of the Internet, they have generated a greater number of academic production, contributions that have given knowledge from a variety of topics of communication interest anchored to the social and cultural, however, still It is a path that requires overcoming challenges such as the non-native language to expand the number of readers in the field. |

Así, la investigación partió del enfoque cuantitativo, nivel descriptivo, donde del indicador bibliométrico del repositorio de la UNACH se revisaron publicaciones entre 2014 al 2022. Los principales resultados evidenciaron que los docentes de la Carrera de Comunicación generaron mayor número de publicaciones desde 2019, especialmente en 2022. Además, existe interés por la producción académica sobre investigación regional revista con preferencia en español, sin tendencia por temas específicos. Se concluye que, tras fortalecer políticas públicas en investigación, ancladas al uso de internet han generado mayor número de producción académica, aportes que han otorgado al conocimiento desde variedad de temas de interés comunicacional anclado a lo social y cultural, sin embargo, todavía es un camino que requiere superar retos como el idioma no nativo para ampliar el número de lectores en el campo.A produção acadêmica nas instituições universitárias públicas do Equador reflete mudanças signifi-cativas nas publicações em nível nacional e internacional. Assim, a pesquisa partiu da abordagem quantitativa, nível descritivo, onde foram revisados o indicador bibliométrico do repositório UNACH, publicações entre 2014 a 2022. Os principais resultados mostraram que os professores da Carreira de Comunicação geraram maior número de publicações desde 2019, especialmente em 2022. Além disso, há interesse na produção acadêmica sobre pesquisas regionais, revistas com preferência em espanhol, sem tendência a temas específicos.
