The evaluation of these experiences shows that the trend was oriented to teacher training in innovative methodology and production of educational material, however, solving the problem of illiteracy and helping children with minor retardation or other learning problem was the priority theme and To which he was given the most attention. A questionnaire was developed to address the issue and based on interviews with officials of the Ministry of Education, teachers and students who worked and studied in those years; Focus groups were made with family members of the teachers who were the authors of the method, teachers implemented with the method and students who learned to read and write with this method. The interviews approach allowed to identify and evaluate the advances that were made in the experimental institute within the specific context of reading and writing. The state of the art was supplemented by information from various specialists in the field of reading and writing and the advances of the pedagogical sciences on the subject.Este artículo presenta un estado del arte de las investigaciones realizadas en lectura y escritura, en la Escuela Experimental N° 7011-Uladislao Zegarra Araujo de Lima- Perú, entre los años 50-70, utilizando como metodología el Método Peruano. La evaluación de dichas experiencias muestra que la tendencia se orientaba a la capacitación docente en la metodología innovadora y producción de material educativo, sin embargo el resolver el problema del analfabetismo y ayudar a niños con retardo leve u otro problema de aprendizaje fue el tema prioritario y al que se le daba la mayor atención. Se elaboró un cuestionario de preguntas para abordar el tema y tomándolo como base, se diseñó entrevistas con funcionarios del Ministerio de Educación, profesores y alumnos que trabajaron y estudiaron en esos años; se realizaron focus groups con familiares de los profesores autores del método, profesores implementados con el método y alumnos que aprendieron a leer y escribir con dicho método. El abordaje de las entrevistas permitió identificar y valorar los avances que se realizaron en el instituto experimental dentro del contexto específico de la lectura y escritura.
