Sumario: | Objective. To correlate burnout syndrome and coping strategies among emergency health personnel at a public hospital in Huánuco, Peru. Methodology. A quantitative, observational, prospective, and analytical study. The population consisted of 155 health personnel, with a probabilistic sample of 92 individuals to whom the Maslach Burnout Inventory and the COPE coping scale were applied. Spearman's rho correlation coeffcient was used for hypothesis testing, following the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test. Results. Regarding the burnout syndrome of the health personnel, 88% (81) perceived a medium level, and the perceived coping level was low at 63% (58). A moderate correlation was found between burnout syndrome and coping strategies in health personnel (rho = 0.417, p = 0.00). Similarly, there is a moderate correlation between emotional and physical exhaustion and coping strategies. Conclusions. A moderate correlation was found between burnout syndrome and coping strategies in health personnel, leading to the acceptance of the general research hypothesis. |
