The methodology used corresponds to the quantitative approach, comparative level, basic and transversal. We worked with 80 preschool students evaluated with the Early Mathematical Assessment Test (TEMT). The results indicated that there are significant differences between five-year-old boys and girls. With obvious advantage in favor of boys compared to girls.La investigación tiene como propósito establecer la diferencia por género en las competencias matemáticas en preescolares de cinco años en una institución educativa de Independencia. Para lograrlo, se han evaluado las diferentes habilidades en el manejo de los elementos básicos de la matemática. Los cuales contribuyen al desarrollo adecuado de los procesos de razonamiento. La metodología empleada corresponde al enfoque cuantitativo, nivel comparativo, básica y transversal. Se trabajó con 80 estudiantes de preescolar evaluados con el Test de Evaluación Matemática Temprana (TEMT). Los resultados señalaron que existen diferencias significativas entre niños y niñas de cinco años.
