The research was basic with a descriptive and correlational level, non-experimental design with a transactional nature. The instruments have validity and reliability. The sample was made up of 218 students from the institute. The results indicated that teaching innovation reaches a medium level with 59.2% and teaching performance a high level with 89.4%. For the inferential test, an inferential analysis was applied after evaluating the normality test which determined a non-parametric analysis with Spearman's Rho test whose result was 0.456 indicating a moderate, positive and significant relationship with Sig. = 0.004 < 0.05El rol del docente es fundamental en la formación de un profesional, por ello el objetivo fue establecer la relación entre la innovación y el desempeño docente de un instituto de formación profesional pedagógico. El estudio siguió una ruta cuantitativa ya que la problemática nace de la observación del fenómeno de estudio y se realizaron mediciones de las variables. La investigación fue básica con nivel descriptivo y correlacional, diseño no experimental con corte transaccional. Los instrumentos cuentan con validez y confiabilidad. La muestra lo conformaron  218 estudiantes del instituto. Los resultados indicaron que la innovación docente alcanza un nivel medio con 59.2% y el desempeño docente un nivel alto con 89.4%, para la prueba inferencial se aplicó un análisis inferencial previa evaluación de la prueba de normalidad la cual determinó realizar un análisis no paramétrico con la prueba de Rho de Spearman cuyo resultado fue de 0.456 indicando una relación moderada, positiva y significativa con Sig. = 0.004 < 0.05.
