Los cuestionamientos buscan abrir reflexiones en relación con las ciencias sociales y el arte del siglo XX, posicionando una mirada histórica de las ideas de «sur» propuestas por las disciplinas.The following essay aims to investigate the aesthetic proposal of inverting the map of South America by Joaquín Torres-García (Uruguayan artist), and its relations and parallelisms with Latin America Social Science in the 20th century (1930 onwards), primarily with decolonial thinking (mainly in the gaze of Anibal Quijano and Boaventura de Sousa Santos). What are the relachionships, parallels and intersections between the art and the social sciences of Latin America in the 20th century? Was it sought to «invert to map» in the social sciences of the 30s and 40s (decade of creation of the work)? How does it become an aesthetic symbol present in the new positions of the social sciences of Latin America?
