His first academic years were devoted to the study of Latin, the Fathers of the Church, the European Middle Ages and the classical culture of the Mediterranean. And it was with that intellectual formation –so scarce among Americanists– that she approaches the so-called Peruvian “colonial studies”; a controversial denomination because it ignores that the American viceroyalties were "kingdoms" and not "colonies", from a legal, political, cultural and religious point of view.Este número de la revista Allpanchis está dedicado a Sabine MacCormack (Frankfurt, 1941 – South Bend, 2012), la brillante historiadora de origen alemán que consagró su vida al estudio del mundo andino. Sus primeros años académicos los dedicó al estudio del latín, los Padres de la Iglesia, la Edad Media europea y la cultura clásica del Mediterráneo.
