However, craft work is seen as vulnerable to a strong competitor backed by mass culture, the effect of globalization. Craftsmanship and globalization are facing a battle where the damaging effects will be concentrated in the displacement of this cultural activity, in its economy and in the perception of society about it. This work presents the current framework of craftsmanship and data from the artisan sector in Mexico, with the aim of reflecting on the effects of globalization and reconsider our homogeneous cultural and plastic consumption.El trabajo artesanal es resultado de un proceso de preservación cultural por medio de la elaboración manual de artefactos con características étnicas y artísticas. Sin embargo, el trabajo artesanal se observa vulnerable ante un competidor fuerte y respaldado por la cultura de masas efecto de la globalización. La artesanía y la globalización se enfrentan en una batalla donde los efectos perjudiciales se verán concentrados en el desplazamiento de esta actividad cultural, en su economía y en la percepción de la sociedad sobre la misma.
