To describe the preferences for contraceptive methods and characterize the sociodemographic and gyneco-obstetric variables of women in the post-abortion situation attended at the Emergency Service of the National Maternal Perinatal Institute (INMP) during 2023. Materials and Methods. A descriptive, cross-sectional and retrospective study was conducted by means of a documentary review of 317 post-abortion patients; the sociodemographic variables, gynecoobstetrics and the choice of contraceptives were considered. Results. Of the 317 patients, 96.2% accepted a contraceptive method, 37% of them chose a monthly injectable. The median age was 31 years, 63.4% were born in Lima, urban residence (66.2%), with a stable union (72.6%), 67.5% completed high school and mostly were housewives (57.1%). Obstetric history: median of living children is 1, 32.2% denies having children; 60.3% deny any abortion; with a median of 3 pregnancies. The age of menarche was 12 (26.8%) and the age of sexual initiation was 18, with a number of partners of 2 (42.9%). 96.9% of abortions were spontaneous, 46.1% treated by manual aspiration. 48.9% did not use a method previously and there was a method failure in 7.57%. Conclusion. Contraceptive method of choice by women after abortion in INMP - 2023 was the monthly injectable with high acceptance of recommended contraceptive methods.

Conocer las preferencias de las mujeres atendidas permite orientas mejor la consejería y la oferta anticonceptiva. Objetivo: Describir las preferencias de métodos anticonceptivos y caracterizar las variables sociodemográficas y gineco-obstétricas de mujeres en situación postaborto atendidas en el servicio de emergencias del Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal (INMP) durante el año 2023. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo, mediante revisión documental de 317 pacientes postaborto; considerando variables sociodemográficas, gineco-obstétricas y la elección de un método anticonceptivo. Resultados: De 317 pacientes, 96,2% aceptaron un MAC, de ellas 37,0% eligió el inyectable mensual. La mediana de edad fue 31 años, el 63,4% nacieron en Lima, de residencia urbana (66,2%), con una unión estable (72,6%), 67,5% completo un nivel secundario y en su mayoría son amas de casa (57,1%). Antecedentes obstétricos: mediana de hijos vivos es 1, 32,2% niega tener hijos; 60,3% niegan algún aborto; con una mediana de 3 gestaciones. La menarquia fue a los 12 años (26,8%) y la edad de inicio de relaciones sexuales fue 18 años, con una andria de 2 parejas (42,9%). El 96,9% de abortos fueron espontáneos, tratados en un 46,1% mediante aspiración manual endouterina. Un 48,9% no usaba un método previo y hubo fallo del método en 7,57%.
