Digital competencies are necessary in a technologically advancing context, as they become an opportunity to optimize the planning methods of the police service. The objective of this article was to determine the digital competencies of the cadets at the General Santander Cadet School [ECSAN], focusing on the planning of police service in coexistence and citizen security. To achieve this, a sequential explanatory mixed-methods approach was implemented, developed through the application of two instruments: a Likert-type survey administered to 157 students and a semi-structured interview conducted with eight teaching experts. Additionally, the academic curriculum and the study plan of the Master's in Coexistence and Citizen Security, as well as the specialization in Police Administration, were analyzed. Regarding the results, it was found that planning and systematization competencies tend to score higher compared to data analysis competencies. This indicates a need to strengthen this skill. While the results were optimal (with a percentage above 65%) in all competencies, it is also true that we are in a rapidly advancing digital era. Therefore, proposing improvements in these competencies could strengthen the planning of the police service in coexistence and citizen security. Hence, it is proposed to implement a pedagogical approach based on the extended classroom to provide experiences that grant training in the digital competencies identified here. |

El objetivo de este artículo, fue determinar las competencias digitales de los cadetes de la Escuela de Cadetes General Santander [ECSAN] enfocadas a la planeación del servicio policial en convivencia y seguridad ciudadana. Para dicho cumplimiento se realizó una metodología de enfoque mixto tipo explicativo secuencial, la cual se desarrolló a través de la aplicación de 2 instrumentos; una encuesta tipo Likert aplicada a 157 estudiantes; y una entrevista semiestructurada aplicada a 8 expertos en docencia, y se analizó el pensum académico y el plan de estudios de la Maestría en Convivencia y Seguridad Ciudadana y la especialización en Administración Policial. Con relación a los resultados, se encontró qué, las competencias de planeación y sistematización, tienden a obtener mejores puntajes en comparación con la competencia de análisis de datos, lo que permite inferir una necesidad de fortalecer esta habilidad, si bien es cierto, los resultados fueron óptimos (un porcentaje mayor al 65%) en todas las competencias, también es cierto que estamos en una era digital que avanza de mara rápida por lo que proponer mejoras en estas competencias, podría fortalecer la planeación del servicio policial en convivencia y seguridad ciudadana. Así pues, se propone implementar una propuesta pedagógica basada en el aula extendida para la vivencia de experiencias que concedan la formación en las competencias digitales aquí identificadas.As competências digitais são necessárias em um contexto tecnológico de contínuo avanço, pois se tornam uma possibilidade de otimizar os métodos de planejamento do serviço policial. O objetivo deste artigo foi determinar as competências digitais dos cadetes da Escola de Cadetes General Santander [ECSAN] focadas no planejamento do serviço policial em convivência e segurança cidadã. Para cumprir esse objetivo, foi realizada uma metodologia de enfoque misto tipo explicativo sequencial, desenvolvida através da aplicação de dois instrumentos: uma pesquisa tipo Likert aplicada a 157 estudantes e uma entrevista semiestruturada aplicada a oito especialistas em docência. Além disso, foram analisados o currículo acadêmico e o plano de estudos do Mestrado em Convivência e Segurança Cidadã, bem como a especialização em Administração Policial. Em relação aos resultados, constatou-se que as competências de planejamento e sistematização tendem a obter melhores pontuações em comparação com as competências de análise de dados, o que permite inferir uma necessidade de fortalecer essa habilidade. Embora os resultados tenham sido ótimos (com um percentual superior a 65%) em todas as competências, é verdade que estamos em uma era digital que avança rapidamente. Portanto, propor melhorias nessas competências poderia fortalecer o planejamento do serviço policial em convivência e segurança cidadã.
