To do that, various strategies used in the newspaper articles are identified in order to represent the sacrifice as a supposed essence of our national identity. It argues that the exaltation of sacrificial worship through the figure of Guerrero constructs a “must-be” for the Peruvian nation, since this alleged sacrifice is always made for the nation and their entire community’s interests. The critical spirit of this work is to locate, within the journalistic texts referred, the fissures and paradoxes that are hidden in their own textures, so this essentialist ideology can be denature and propose a change of paradigm in this type of journalistic genre that is so popular in our country.La presente investigación se propone analizar la construcción del valor moral del sacrificio en el futbolista Paolo Guerrero en los discursos de la prensa deportiva peruana durante la Copa América Argentina 2011 y las Eliminatorias al Mundial Brasil 2014. Para ello, se identifican diversas estrategias empleadas dentro de los textos periodísticos para representar al sacrificio como una supuesta esencia de nuestra peruanidad. Se plantea que el ensalzamiento del culto sacrificial a través de la figura de Guerrero construye un “deber-ser” para con la nación peruana, toda vez que se presume que su inmolación se realiza siempre a favor del interés de la toda la comunidad nacional. El espíritu crítico de este trabajo consiste en ubicar dentro de los referidos discursos las fisuras y paradojas que se ocultan en sus propias texturas, para así desnaturalizar esta ideología nacionalista y proponer un cambio de paradigma en este tipo de género periodístico tan popular en nuestro país.Universidad San Martín de Porres.
