Descripción
Sumario:My corpus of analysis consists of Ellan Young's photography in the work, Seller and Servants, Working Women in Lima, Peru (1989) by Ximena Bunster and Elsa M. Chaney. The role of the image of the urban subaltern woman and the inter-ethnic relations resulting from the current socio-political scenario in which the city is circumscribed are investigated. With this, the approximations and contradictions between the represented and the official photographic narrative are explored, as well as its representation of the reference to visual memories and what the receivers know or do not know as part of identity memories under construction. Locked up, in a fence that Mabel Moraña describes as peripheral capitalism from its violent founding through today’s times of the pandemic they illustrate how globalization has established itself, stripping immigrant working women of their rights.
