Ante la limitada información sobre la educación sexual dirigida al nivel inicial y los tabúes y restricciones que la rodean, surge la necesidad de producir estudios que analicen esta temática y sus implicancias en el desarrollo integral de los niños y niñas. Así pues, la importancia de esta investigación se debe a sus aportes a los conocimientos sobre la educación sexual integral (ESI) dirigida a niños del nivel inicial en Lima, Perú. La metodología utilizada tiene un enfoque cualitativo de tipo descriptivo, que permite estudiar el fenómeno de estudio y describirlo con detalle. Así mismo, la técnica elegida es la entrevista no estructurada, que fue realizada a cuatro docentes de las aulas de 5 años y a una coordinadora de nivel, quienes sirvieron de informantes. Los resultados del estudio concluyeron que, pese a haberse añadido nuevos contenidos de educación sexual al currículo nacional durante los últimos años, la implementación de los mismo en las aulas se ve obstaculizada por la falta de capacitación docente, la mala interpretación de lo comprendido por sexualidad y educación sexual, y la poca atención dirigida a la educación sexual en el nivel inicial.

Given the limited information on sexual education aimed at the initial level and the taboos and restrictions that surround it, the need arises to produce studies that analyze this subject and its implications in the integral development of boys and girls. Thus, the importance of this research is due to its contributions to the knowledge of comprehensive sexual education (ESI) aimed at children at the initial level in Lima, Peru. The methodology used has a qualitative approach of a descriptive type, which allows the study phenomenon to be studied and described in detail. Likewise, the chosen technique is the unstructured interview, which was carried out with four teachers from the 5-year-old classrooms and a level coordinator, who served as informants.
