En este contexto, se reconocen las fuentes históricas visuales como herramientas valiosas para analizar información del pasado, siendo además motivadoras y facilitadoras de la retención de información (Tapia, 1999). Los resultados muestran una valoración positiva de los estudiantes hacia el uso de fuentes visuales en la enseñanza de la historia, aunque estas sean percibidas principalmente como facilitadoras de una comprensión ilustrativa y narrativa. Se sugiere, por tanto, la implementación de estrategias que fomenten la evaluación crítica de estas fuentes, incluyendo la comparación con otras y el análisis contextual considerando al autor. Además, se destaca la importancia de abordar la historia como una disciplina que requiere un enfoque investigativo en el ámbito educativo.

Emphasis is placed on the significance of working with historical sources in the development of historical thinking (Santisteban, 2010; Seixas, Morton 2012; Ibagón, 2016, 2021), as they have been highlighted for their role in developing cognitive skills and a deeper understanding of the past. In this context, visual historical sources are recognized as valuable tools for analyzing historical information, while also serving as motivators and facilitators for information retention (Tapia, 1999). Findings reveal a positive evaluation by students towards the use of visual sources in history education, although they are primarily perceived as aids for illustrative and narrative comprehension. Therefore, the implementation of strategies promoting critical evaluation of these sources, including comparison with others and contextual analysis considering authorship, is suggested.
