El presente protocolo de antibióticoprofilaxis es una propuesta que contiene los criterios para la indicación de profilaxis y los esquemas de antibióticos de eficacia reconocida en varios trabajos de investigación. Aunque existen puntos controvertidos, consideramos las tendencias predominantes. Además, como se trata de un protocolo, la aplicación del mismo exigirá evaluación de los resultados, y por lo tanto modificaciones que tendrán la finalidad de estandarizar criterios para disminuir la tasa de infecciones postoperatorias.
