The tests were made to 8-year-old students who were in the third grade of elementary school. The focus of the design was given according to trial and error sessions, which helped to improve the understanding of the movement based on mathematical challenges. To develop the video game "MATELOGIC" the pattern Pipes and Filters combined with the ACOT model were chosen. In the present investigation it was possible to verify that the combination of algorithmic thinking concepts and the interaction of video games provide favorable results in learning, surpassing traditional methods.Consejo Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Tecnológica - ConcytecengAssociation for Computing MachineryACM International Conference Proceeding Seriesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessTrial and errorEducation computing-1Interactive computer graphics-1Algorithmic thinking-1Elementary schools-1Gamification-1Mathematical games-1Methods of teachings-1Movement-based-1Tangible programming-1Human computer interaction-1https://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#1.01.00-1Matelogic: Interactive mathematical learning based on challengesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/conferenceObjectreponame:CONCYTEC-Institucionalinstname:Consejo Nacional de Ciencia Tecnología e Innovacióninstacron:CONCYTEC#PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE#20.500.12390/576oai:repositorio.concytec.gob.pe:20.500.12390/5762024-05-30 15:45:25.758http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cbinfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessmetadata only accesshttps://repositorio.concytec.gob.peRepositorio Institucional CONCYTECrepositorio@concytec.gob.pe#PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE##PLACEHOLDER_PARENT_METADATA_VALUE#<Publication xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/1.1/" id="ea4b4ff5-0555-48ff-9147-f71710f105ec"> <Type xmlns="https://www.openaire.eu/cerif-profile/vocab/COAR_Publication_Types">http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_1843</Type> <Language>eng</Language> <Title>Matelogic: Interactive mathematical learning based on challenges</Title> <PublishedIn> <Publication> <Title>ACM International Conference Proceeding Series</Title> </Publication> </PublishedIn> <PublicationDate>2018</PublicationDate> <DOI>https://doi.org/10.1145/3178158.3178208</DOI> <SCP-Number>2-s2.0-85047270764</SCP-Number> <ISBN>urn:isbn:9781450353595</ISBN> <Authors> <Author> <DisplayName>Barrios J.E.M.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp01074" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Becerra D.A.I.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp01072" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Páucar F.H.R.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp01071" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> <Author> <DisplayName>Mendoza F.M.T.</DisplayName> <Person id="rp01073" /> <Affiliation> <OrgUnit> </OrgUnit> </Affiliation> </Author> </Authors> <Editors> </Editors> <Publishers> <Publisher> <DisplayName>Association for Computing Machinery</DisplayName> <OrgUnit /> </Publisher> </Publishers> <Keyword>Trial and error</Keyword> <Keyword>Education computing</Keyword> <Keyword>Interactive computer graphics</Keyword> <Keyword>Algorithmic thinking</Keyword> <Keyword>Elementary schools</Keyword> <Keyword>Gamification</Keyword> <Keyword>Mathematical games</Keyword> <Keyword>Methods of teachings</Keyword> <Keyword>Movement-based</Keyword> <Keyword>Tangible programming</Keyword> <Keyword>Human computer interaction</Keyword>
The use of the Unity3D video game engine was chosen for the development of the prototype, focusing on the subject of tangible programming, In order to improve the traditional methods of teaching mathematics.
