Esta especie pertenece al subgénero Brachistosternus (Leptosternus) Maury. Se describe Brachistosternus ninapo, nueva especie de Bothriuridae de los Andes occidentales del sur del Perú (2900 a 4050 m). Esta especie pertenece al subgénero Brachistosternus (Leptosternus) Maury.
