The main aim of this exploratory and pre-experimental study is to establish the variations in the distribution of visual attention of translators in training during a reading task with Specialized Extensive Nominal Phrases (hereinafter SNEE). To achieve this goal, a case study was conducted with four translators in training who had to read 10 contexts of a Human Genome corpus that contains SNEE of three and five tokens. Data collection was performed through the eye movement technique and a Likert scale-type questionnaire. The results of this study showed that the distribution of the visual attention of the translators in training presented variations according to the length of the SNEE. Longer time and number of fixations were observed in the SNEE of five tokens in contrast to the SNEE of three tokens. Likewise, the length variable is a factor that affects visual attention during the p...

In recent decades, cultural heritage has been the scene of multiple tensions in Latin America: processes of accelerated destruction, fragmented or nonexistent institutional policies, and limited coordination with local communities. In contexts marked by exclusion, neglect, and a lack of cultural identity, heritage becomes a field of symbolic, political, and community disputes. This article proposes to address one of these disputes through the experience of the Intangible project, an art, activism, and communication project developed since 2015 in the Quebrada Santo Domingo archaeological site on the northern coast of Peru. In this place, where a valuable set of pre-Hispanic vestiges threatened by agricultural invasions and urban expansion survive, Intangible has led a persistent campaign to defend, appropriate, and conserve heritage, engaging schoolchildren and residents to recover and r...

What is it like to live without questioning the meaning of existence? This document proposes how something as common and chaotic as existential crises can find transformation and change through drama therapy. This therapeutic tool facilitates emotional expression through drama (acting, play, dramaturgy, masks, among other elements of theatrical art) and generates powerful introspection processes in participants through their self-awareness, through provocative questions posed by the drama therapist. The social symptoms of existential emptiness end up generating emotional difficulties that can even lead to the loss of life for those who experience them. For this reason, it is decided to work with young people, as they are the population most affected by this problem. In other words, drama therapy aims to propose a path that approaches the construction of the purpose for which young people...

Germain Machuca is a Peruvian performance artist and activist, whose work for LGTBIQ+ rights has tirelessly demanded more humane politics towards communities living with HIV/AIDS. They have performed artistic protests against Peruvian state violence toward the most vulnerable populations: Indigenous, racialized, marginalized, and queer/cuir bodies. Germain’s work centers on bodily narratives that emerge from personal explorations in dialogue with a myriad of marginalized and stigmatized bodies rendered disposable by the state. Both in performance spaces and in the streets, Germain offers their body to ask who has the right to dignity after death. In their performance work, Germain intertwines contemporary body art explorations and research of pre-Hispanic traditions and Andean cultural expressions. Their body is at the center of their creative process, highlighting the intersections of...

Social debate is a hypergenre that allows for the exchange of public discourses on socially relevant topics, as has been developing for years in relation to health and illness, including migration processes. The necessary interrelation of superstructural (actors, genres and contextual elements), macrostructural (thematic dynamics), mesostructural (argumentation) and microstructural (phonic, graphemic, morphological or lexical-semantic elements that regulate the intensity of discourse) elements is highlighted if discourse analysis is to provide an ambitious response to very complex social problems. There are categories which, in these earlier models, called for a more detailed analysis. The types of actors who communicate and their groupings are good examples. This article offers a new systematisation of actors (and actions) and proposes a new unit of analysis: the social discussion commu...
