Gender roles have been redefining their place in society, and this has generated difficulties regarding the equilibrium between women´s right to procreate and the abuse of their power over this. Using a qualitative design and assuming that a cultural product, such as the dramatic literature of a certain place, visibilizes the complexities of the psychological processes of a society, this research explores the ways in which subjectivities and associations between maternity and power are displayed in a group of texts of contemporary playwrights in Lima. The concept of the fertilizing man is suggested and some topics found throughout this literary corpus are discussed, such as women´s nutritious power, couple dynamics related to the abuse of power, the envy between the genders and the displacements of this battle for power, onto the descendence.

The Peruvian university system faces a complex redistributive problem due to organized state capture, manifested in wide inequality gaps in access to education, a commercial approach to subject areas, and the exclusive control of the means of educational reproduction, infrastructure, and competent teaching staff by influential economic power groups. In this research, we analyze the strategies used by these actors to undermine the foundation of free, expanded education and the technological advancement of public universities. We also analyze the advertising push for mathematical disciplines and the systematic elimination of reflective social sciences from curricula, viewed as useless for the country's economic and territorial development. This problem is compounded by an educational culture associated with the anomie of plagiarism, patronage, and the illicit acquisition of certificates an...

Over the course of more than 20 years of practicing Popular Advocacy in Brazil, I have observed court decisions in which textual statements were made about the parties' speeches that I considered to be linguistically unfeasible. The exploratory and qualitative research, with slight quantitative touches, was developed with the aim of offering descriptions of the phenomenon in order to formulate some plausible categories for the linguistic distortions observed. In accordance with Francisco Varela's (1995) perspective on the Sciences and Technologies of Cognition, I classified the object of study as multidisciplinary, so I produced a methodological composition centered on critical discourse analysis, with some elements of participant observation, which made it possible to integrate some levels of complexity into the investigations. As results and conclusions, I have proposed some categories...

The essay explains why and how Latin American societies, during the period of1930 to 1980, accepted the different variants of populist regimes; why these political systems perpetuated for such a long time; what mechanisms were employed to manage internal order; why and how the destruction occurred in the decade of the 1980s; why at the beginning of the 21st century certain forms of populist-demagogicappeals in the Latin-American political panorama returned to the scene; why the State in Latin America reached such low levels of institutionalism halfway through the 20th century; why the discourse of mixed races transformed itself into the central element, capable of uniting the complex magma formed by structural heterogeneity; and why «old nationalisms» are giving way to new methods and alternative discourses about the concept of identity at the beginning of the 21st century.

This paper analyzes changes in community governance in the contextof negotiations with a mining company. We focus on three issues:the role played by the community government on the regulation ofcommunity resources and territory, the diverse and complex intereststhat emerge in the presence of mining activity; and, the communityas a political institution confronting external pressures over its land.We develop a study case focusing on the negotiation process betweenthe Michiquillay peasant community and Anglo American MiningCompany in Cajamarca, Peru. This information was obtained doingfieldwork in the community in 2009. This report contains a general vision of the social and political processes that were experienced by the communities, villages and cities located in the high Andean area of Huanuco. We examine, in particular, the microregion of Huamalíes near the Marañon river whose communities practice a seasonal agriculture on small plots associated with complex dynamic systems of migration toward surrounding mining areas and the coca rainforest of Monson. During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries two social groups emerge and consolidate with hegemonic power: Llata and La Union. The democratic and authoritarian options are expressed and diffused to the interior of the urban nuclei that evolve from villages to cities in their desire to be connected to the national oligarchical power and to conquer basic services in order to modernize their regional economies.

This paper seeks to identify the conception of power in La fiesta del Chivo. The phenomenon of power from the literary subgenres of the region, its particularities and its problems are analyzed in this essay. After a process of interpretation and contextualization of the work, it is identified that the fundamental elements of the primary conception of power are violence, conflict, and fear. Despite the author’s little problematization of this topic, fear of the loss of the «order» imposed by the dictatorial figures highlights the relationship of complicity between the dictator, those close to him, and the governed. With this approach, the study reveals the complexity of the phenomena of power in the region and allows an approach to law as an instrument of legitimization of dictatorships.

According to the institutions (the International Financial Corporation - IFC and World Bank - WB) that regulate population resettlement and are in charge of issuing population resettlement standards, and, according to the entities that enforce these regulations, in theory, resettlements have to take place only when they are “necessary”. However, several cases has shown that what is necessary for mining projects developers differs from what is really necessary for their future neighbours - the population to be resettled. The argument of the political necessity of carrying out mining projects, almost instantaneously, annihilates any alternatives for a population to-be-displaced. This situation has revealed true power that is attributed to a mining company. By implementing a mining project, a mining company becomes the manager of the future of a community, hence of its present....

In this paper we will describe the relationship between the “coloniality of power” and education. Aníbal Quijano developed the concept “coloniality of power” to critically express Latin American thought characterized by its Eurocentric and traditional view. For this we have developed two parts. In the first, we will highlight the importance of the aforementioned concept, in the sense that it is key to explaining the colonized and oppressed reality without implying recourse to the global hegemonic system or its power patterns such as the rationality and modernity of these industrialized societies. In the second we will try to relate this concept with education in our country. In the sense of analyzing the way education deals with certain issues of the colonial heritage, which are currently structural problems, such as discrimination and the inferiority complex, patriarchy and the...
