Placental mesenchymal dysplasia is a rare and benign placental abnormality. It is characterized by placentomegaly with multiple cystic lesions of the villous tree and vascular abnormalities along with increased maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein concentrations. It is an unknown clinical entity and can be confused with gestational trophoblastic disease due to the similar ultrasound findings in both entities; but the management and the perinatal outcome are different. It should be included in the differential diagnosis of ultrasound findings showing a normal-appearing fetus and a placenta with cystic lesions. However, placental mesenchymal dysplasia is associated with complications such as intrauterine growth restriction and intrauterine fetal death. Due to the high number of complications and associated pathologies, it is necessary to increase ultrasound evaluations to reduce fetal morbidit...

Pulmonary aspergillosis, caused by the opportunistic fungus Aspergillus, primarily affects immunocompromised individuals. This report presents three cases: An 18-year-old female with acute leukemia developed respiratory distress and bilateral "tree-in-bud" patterns on CT. Despite voriconazole treatment, she succumbed to respiratory failure. A 58-year-old female with diabetes and COPD had dyspnea and hemoptysis. Imaging revealed a cavitated lesion, confirming aspergilloma. Surgery was considered due to active hemoptysis. A 41-year-old female with a history of tuberculosis presented with fever and respiratory symptoms. CT showed cavitated lesions and bronchiectasis, confirming chronic aspergillosis. She responded well to voriconazole. These cases highlight the variability in pulmonary aspergillosis and underscore the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment to improve patient outcomes.

The presence of foliar phytopathogenic fungi causes severe damage to leave and fruits of peach (Prunus persica L.), in producing areas of southern Chihuahua, Mexico, which has caused a decrease in production by 30%. The objective of this work was to identify morphologically and molecularly the foliar phytopathogenic fungi associated with the peach tree crop, evaluating the pathogenicity in one-year-old plants against Trichoderma asperelloides. Leaves with brown and brown lesions were collected from mummified fruits on the plant from 19 commercial peach orchards distributed in three municipalities of regional and national production in the State of Chihuahua, Mexico. Fungal identification of four representative isolates was performed using morphological methods. characterization and phylogenetic analysis based on the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS1 and ITS4) of ribosomal DNA, par...

Intralobar bronchopulmonary sequestration consists of isolated non- functioning lung tissue that lacks normal communication to the tracheobronchial tree. It has systemic arterial supply and venous drainage to the pulmonary veins or the left atrium. Whereas extralobar sequestration is clearly congenital, intralobar sequestration may have a congenital or acquired origin and frequently presents in older children (usually older than 10 years old). We present the case of a 3 years old patient with recurrent attacks of basal right lung pneumonia. Intralobar pulmonary sequestration was confirmed by arteriogram. We must consider this lesion among the diagnostic approach to children with clinical and radiological findings suggestive of pneumonia and poor response to the administered antibiotics. The usefulness of different imaging techniques for the diagnosis is also addressed.

The production and export of avocado fruits, cultivar Hass, has grown exponentially in recent years in Peru, however, a high incidence of symptoms such as regressive death, cankers on plant branches, and fruit rot have been observed affecting optimal crop production and fruit quality. These symptoms are mainly generated by Lasiodiplodia theobromae fungus, whose control is limited to a few active ingredients that tend to generate pathogen resistance. The present investigation had as objective to evaluate the inducing effect of resistance in the control of Lasiodiplodia theobromae in avocado (Persea americana) cultivar Hass of five bioproducts: ProtecSea, Barrera, Timorex Gold, T 22, Vacun Q Pro and water as a control treatment, with a total of 6 treatments with 4 replications, 3 avocado trees per replication. One-year-old avocado trees cultivar Hass were used. Treatments were applied th...
