El objetivo de esta investigación fue identificar la arquitectura ceremonial que ayuda a configurar el Estado Teocrático en el sitio arqueológico de Pallka, distrito de Yaután, Casma, Áncash. Es una investigación básica con diseño no experimental, transversal y descriptivo. La población la constituyó el sitio arqueológico de Pallka y la muestra, las evidencias arquitectónicas de los 3 sectores de dicho sitio. Se tomó como unidad de análisis la arquitectura monumental del sector 1 y 3 y objetos arqueológicos con iconografía relacionada a temas ceremoniales. Se desarrolló un trabajo de prospección general del sitio y el uso del método comparativo y etnográfico para tener una mayor claridad en la forjación del Estado Teocrático como esencia del poder político y tal vez religioso que desempeñó el sitio y que le permitió un gran dominio en el valle circundante. In this article we propose that the archaeological site of Chavin de Huántar was the materialization and center of a Andean theocratic state. To give support to such proposal we argue a serie of archaeological indicators which ones raise from the accumulated and updated information as well as own observations. With such proposal inspired in the historical materialism we expect generate a discussion focused on the archaeological objects and that attend to the particular material conditions and to the historical trajectory of the central andes.

Juan Leon Mera was a conservative and fervently Catholic Ecuadorian writer who lived in the mid-nineteenth century whose most famous novel was “Cumandá”. In this novel, although its sentimental and Indianist aspects are usually studied, Mera concretized his ideals of a state based on Catholicism. However, this article questions whether this proposal of Catholic organization is viable at the end of the book. In this sense, it is intended, on the one hand, to characterize the elements that make up the theocratic state project and, on the other hand, to demonstrate that the conformation of this Christian and at the same time conservative project, from what is proposed in Cumandá and its relationship with the socio-political context of the time, ends up being an unviable project. En los últimos años, Cerro Baúl ha sido considerada como uno de los sitios arqueológicos más importantes de la región de Moquegua, este lugar muestra evidencia de la ocupación de las culturas Wari y Tiwanaku, correspondientes al periodo Horizonte Medio del proceso prehispánico. Desde tiempos remotos, Cerro Baúl ha sido venerado como Apu y sigue siendo objeto de veneración en la actualidad. En este sitio se han encontrado evidencias de actividades rituales y domésticas y fue el centro administrativo de la época Wari.
