La presente investigación hace algunos aportes sobre distribución larval de Argopecten purpuratus y niveles óptimos de fijación postlarval en relación a la profundidad. Para ello, entre agosto y noviembre del 2009, en un área concesionada a la Asociación de Pescadores Beatita de Humay, se instalaron tres reinales con colectores ubicados a 3, 6 y 8 m de profundidad, los cuales fueron extraídos y reemplazados semanalmente por otro juego de colectores. A la par se tomaron muestras de agua a las mismas profundidades en que se distribuyeron las bolsas captadoras. Los resultados mostraron la preferencia de larvas pedivelíger por concentrarse a media agua (6 m) a lo largo del- periodo evaluado, difiriendo significativamente de los otros dos niveles.
