Snakebites, particularly those from the genus Bothrops spp., represent a public health concernin Latin America due to their high incidence and significant clinical variability. We present thecase of a 44-year-old male patient, a gardener by occupation, who was bitten on the left thirdfinger by a snake in Cieneguilla. Initially, no antivenom was available at the nearest health center;therefore, he was transferred to Hospital Edgardo Rebagliati Martins on the same day. Despitereceiving immediate medical attention and antivenom treatment upon arrival at the hospital, hedeveloped common local symptoms such as pain, edema, and ecchymosis, but did not exhibit anysevere long-term complications. We present the case of a 44-year-old male patient with a family history of lymphoma and hyperthyroidism. He started the disease three months before admission to hospital with pain in the right leg, abdominal pain, weight loss and night sweats. He was diagnosed in his hospitalization with ascites in a cavity of undetermined etiology, and multiple polygastric and fossa lymph nodes right iliac. At 6 months, the symptoms persist and a nodule is added on the penis, left testicular edema and purulent discharge from the right inguinal node, being diagnosed orchiepididymitis. Initially he had negative markers for tuberculosis (TB), however, a lymph node biopsy was performed and the analysis with Xpert MTB/RIF where it resulted positive. The patient improved considerably with anti-TB treatment and antibiotics for purulent discharge.

The 2016 Ecuador earthquake (Mw 7.8), is part of the sequence of large earthquakes in Ecuador and Colombia: 1906 (8.4 to 8.8 Mw), 1942 (Mw 7.8), 1958 (Mw 7.7), 1979 (Mw 8.2), all these events with a focal mechanism of the thrust fault type. In this research, we have obtain the seismic source distribution (indicating the presence of 2 main asperities), from inversion of teleseismic signals, as well as the parameters of the seismic rupture process: focal mechanism that indicates a type of inverse fault (strike = 25°, dip = 12°, rake = 118°) for a focal depth of 23 km and the source time function indicating a composite event, the duration of the rupture process was around 70 s, assuming an average rupture velocity of 3.0 km/s. Background: Lung cancer has highest mortality in both sexes. Current management of lung adenocarcinoma includes determining epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutational status as this is the target of erlotinib, a biologic therapy. Case report: A 62 yearold male with high smoking cancer risk presented chronic headache for a month, and magnetic resonance showed a brain tumor. Surgical specimen diagnosis was metastatic pulmonary adenocarcinoma by immunohistochemistry (TTF-1 (+)). An asymptomatic lesion in the right upper lobe of the lung was identified by tomography. Due to positivity to EGFR gene exon 21 mutation erlotinib was started; it was well tolerated by the patient. The patient died 31 months after diagnosis.
