The study analyzes the first journalism textbooks published in Spain between 1891 and 1912, which outline the professional features the reporter in that historical stage should have. Because of its influence on the political, social and cultural regulations, the the journalism activity then claimed a status of its own for itself, which distinguished it from other activities that, as literature, shared the word as an expression tool, and also were published in newspapers and magazines.

This paper offers the results of a content analysis on how Spanish media are using the 360º video feature. Unlike other conventional ways of storytelling, this new modality provides the viewer with a sensation of being really present in a reality that is only being represented, which favors a deeper and more meaningful understanding of it. The study consists of a sample of 147 360º video features produced by 19 Spanish media between January 2015 and December 2017. The results confirm a slight increase in the number of publications in 2017 and a preference for using this format to cover social issues. The main purpose of these features seems to be to show the events in their context. The use of the several techniques to increase the sense of presence is still low.

Storytelling is a human action. Humankind practices it from memorial times until these days. Stories are important for species survival since through these knowledge is transfer from generation to the next one and social identity of communities is built. Each era is defined by social and cultural changes as well as technological innovations. The continuous changes in social, technological and media dynamics have forced the communication strategies of companies to constantly change. In the current context, characterized by low attention rates, the saturation of messages and multi-screen consumption, content has become a distinctive and valuable element to connect with audiences. In this sense, the transmedia storytelling, offer characteristics that encourage the participation and involvement of the audiences to which they are directed. This research intends to make a bibliographical review to discover what the key elements of this storytelling are.
