Al presentar este ensayo, deseo explorar cómo algunos de nuestros hallazgos en los estudios en Magdalena de Cao Viejo, en el valle de Chicama, se relacionan con la cuestión de examinar identidades en un sitio del Período Colonial Temprano. Empezaré por describir el sitio en general y, luego, me enfocaré en líneas clave de evidencia de los problemas y potencialidades de identificar asimilación, acomodación, hibridación y resistencia a través de la arqueología, especialmente, en nuestro programa de estudios desde el año 2004 hasta el presente.

In this paper we make a proposal for spatial analysis with archaeological, ethnographic and historiographic data on the Pacajes groups settled in Jesús de Machaca (La Paz, Bolivia), identifying different types of space: physical, administrative, symbolic and social. We call this network of spaces: spatialities, which directly and indirectly reflects the daily relationship between subjects and their environment. This work focuses particularly on the transitional period between the Inka conquest and the Spanish conquest. From the material data and oral sources, it was possible to determine that there is a signification and resignification of the different spatialities that were formed thanks to the interaction of the local inhabitants and the conquerors, where some of these aspects could remain in force.

It details the discovery of an early colonial document, for a ceremony to extirpate idolatry, from an archaeological excavation unit on the raised platform of Sector B, the Archaeological Complex of Lumbra in 2008. This archaeological findings allows us to have information about the context and how these ceremonies were developed in the archbishopric of Lima.

¿Cómo el régimen colonial temprano afectó el oficio de alfarero en los Andes? Cómo la evidencia documental y material sobre alfarería nos permite comprender mejor ese periodo? Este artículo propone una metodología para responder ambas interrogantes. Con tal objetivo, se sugiere la necesidad de emplear modelos analíticos explícitos sobre alfareros cuando se estudia evidencia cerámica. En este contexto, se proponen algunos modelos alfareros para el periodo colonial temprano y se discuten tres casos específicos que muestran la diversidad de estrategias empleadas por los alfareros en ese periodo.
