Facing the challenges brought by Higher Education growth, the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) created the Psychological Support Services. They seek to help the adaptation to the university setting, enhancing the overall students´ development and their integration in the labor market. This qualitative research studies the structure of the Psychological Support Services in HEIs of Portugal and the main activities developed by educational psychologists. Interviews were conducted with eight services and showed that all services are designed for students. Although the most frequent activity is the students' psychological consultation, educational psychologists also develop a variety of interventions: skill development programs, support to students with special needs, and mentoring programs to welcome new students. Traditionally the services were oriented by an individual intervention an...

Studying the actions of several institutions, as well as the popular belief according to which Galician people and Portuguese people have enough common ground as to fully understand each other, this article considers the reality of the matter in the context of international negotiation. We will study the use of the Galician language in international business, and then refute—or not—the hypothesis which indicates that the use of Galician can be the first step in a mutual understanding, but that it is necessary to be more deeply immersed in the language before facing an international negotiation—immersed in a way that also includes cultural knowledge.

Artificial Intelligence has reached journalism in different phases of the news production process, from the identification of news trends to data processing or the automatic production of texts, among others. Its potential manifests itself especially when there is a large amount of data, something that sections such as sports and economy can offer. Of the two options, in this work we chose sports journalism and, thus, we sought to know and understand how newspapers, radios, TV's and digital native products in Brazil and Portugal have been related to Artificial Intelligence. To achieve the proposed objectives, we sent a survey to the heads of several media in both countries with questions that helped us to realize that editors and managers know the contribution that AI can offer to their newsrooms. Among other results obtained, we highlight that the use of AI in the Brazilian media is mor...

This article presents the results of a survey conducted in Brazil, Spain and Portugal. The objectives were to explore the discourses of psychologists about their practices in public health services in primary, secondary and tertiary care. A comparative and descriptive field studywas employed. One hundred seven participants filled out a questionnaire and were interviewed. The results indicate that the Brazil samples had more difficulty to situate and distinguish the specifics of their interventions at primary, secondary and tertiary health care levels. The Spaniards defined primary health interventions better while the Portuguese showed moderate difficulty in identifying the level of relevance of their practices.

Our research has explored the complex landscape of Municipal Tourist Tax regulations across Portuguese municipalities that currently impose a tourist tax on overnight stays. The introduction of a tourist tax in Portugal first occurred in Aveiro in 2013. However, its implementation and collection did not achieve the expected impact, so it was discontinued. Many Portuguese municipalities now impose the tourist tax, including popular destinations such as Porto, Lisbon, and Faro, offering a unique opportunity to assess the evolving regulatory landscape and its effects on local economies. This study examined and compared the Portuguese regulations in force at the end of 2023. The analysis focused on the date of application, incidence, value, purpose, and exemptions of the tourist tax applied in the various municipalities, providing insights into the effectiveness and challenges of these tax p...

The proposed physical space, in this work, is the border between Spain and Portugal, in the province of Ourense, where war events occurred that provided the landscape with a network of castles for control and surveillance; an architecture that articulated the territory and that reached our days in various states of conservation. In this context, the valorization of defensive heritage to design a cultural route linked to the history of the border begins with a bibliographic study to have the state of the art and subsequent field work to visit and analyze the tourist possibilities of these properties. Also, it is necessary to review the hotel infrastructure, since the objective is to seek a comprehensive tourist experience. Consequently, the itinerary should contribute to the revitalization of the rural world, the knowledge of border history and the presentation of new job opportunities.

This paper aims to identify and analyze the main limiting factors of innovation performance in terms of product and process innovation. The limiting factors to innovation make the innovation process of a firm difficult, which influences its innovation performance. The goal of this essay is to develop a theoretical support based on current reference approaches, corroborated by empirical support, which allows for the identification and analysis of the factors that restrict innovation activity and innovation performance. The database is extracted from the Community Innovation Survey - CIS 2010, which was conducted under the responsibility of the Office of Planning, Strategy, Evaluation and International Relations/Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (GPEARI/MCTES), in collaboration with the National Statistics Institute (INE), under the supervision of EUROSTAT.

In this paper we deal with cross-border flows of people within the Euroregion Galicia-North of Portugal, paying particular attention to those led by workers. Based on data for daily mobility between the places of residence and work (commuters), it can be defined, within this territory, the so-called Polycentric Urban Regions (PUR) of Vigo and Porto. These regions should constitute significant referents of cross-border mobility, whose importance we begin to realize by estimating the movement of passengers across border crossings linking the south of Galicia and the north of Portugal. In this context, given the non-existence of official statistics, the reports prepared by the Eures Galicia/Região Norte office provide relevant information about the flow of cross-border workers in the area, which we have complemented by conducting two surveys directed, respectively, to involved workers and...

News platformization is a global phenomenon characterized by the growing centrality of social media and search engines in news distribution, thus transforming news media into producers of content that complement these digital ecosystems. In this context, the research used a quantitative analysis based on the intersection of media mapping studies and platformization studies to understand how Portuguese news media position themselves on platforms. Three steps were taken: news media codification and mapping, classification of their different levels of presence, and characterization and comparison between such levels. The classification was conducted with a combination of hierarchical and non-hierarchical cluster analyses, identifying three levels of platform presence—low, medium, and high—on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. It is concluded that the reach and the medium of orig...
