The article analyzed the problem of child sexual violence in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. The methodology was qualitative based on analysis of documents (empirical studies, legislation and hemerography) and complemented with descriptive statistics. It is found that: legislation has been harmonized with national and international law, legal and applicability vacancies persist, bureaucratic processes, access to justice for victims, impunity and the absence of real statistics; the highest incidence is in the house and the school, being the principal aggressors of the family and teachers. Assemblies represent an essential element in the indigenous justice of the communities in Oaxaca. In these types of gatherings, the community becomes a collective judicial body in order to address a violation of its normative system. What is their nature? How do they function? What notable elements do they incorporate in their development? This study aims to provide an approach to these questions through the tools of discourse analysis and studies on orality. To achieve its goal, it is divided into four sections: the first analyzes the typology, nature and status of indigenous justice assemblies; while the following sections focus on examining their procedural, discursive and oral dynamics.

The aim of this work is to analyze the performance of a drinking water supply system. The data was collected by the city’s water system staff. The water supply system performance was measured using Six Sigma metrics on an EPANET simulation. Initial conditions were compared to future scenarios under implemented changes. The results showed that the current water supply is incapable of satisfying user requirements. The water shortage is not due to a lack of extraction but to losses of up to 43% that occur within the system itself. However, according to the simulation, the system’s capacity can be improved by applying changes to the pumping and distribution conditions. Inspection and maintenance of the network is a priority in order to mitigate large water losses. Increasing extraction would mask the waste problem and lead to an overexploitation of the well.

Mining companies generate tailings as a product of their metallurgical treatment, covering large amounts of land, generating pollution and hazards to the ecosystem, also, the optimization and increase of mining production is advancing rapidly being an important and worrying factor in this sector, because, in this specific case, it seeks to generate new alternatives to recycle this tailings and apply it in other activities, arising an opportunity to optimize the costs of support especially the cement used for the manufacture of shotcrete, since the high cost could take advantage of this tailings as a component of the concrete. To develop this research work, data collection techniques and the methodology of direct observation were used, because different types of physical-mechanical and petromineragraphic analysis were performed as a single component and in combination with the other eleme...

The Historic Center of Oaxaca de Juárez is one of the ten historic Mexican centers inscribed by Unesco as World Heritage Sites. Due to this inscription, a greater interest in the management, conservation and diffusion of the cultural wealth of this area has been generated, which is why the Partial Plan of Conservation of the Historic Center of Oaxaca de Juarez of 1997 was elaborated and proposed as a participatory and concerted instrument that shows the problems of the time and offers some strategies as a solution. However, the objectives of this plan were not fully completed. Today, there are new challenges to face in the historic center of Oaxaca de Juarez that manifest the need for an update of the plan or the creation of other management and ordering tools for its center. It is necessary to learn from this experience to be able to make points of comparison with the various types of ...

In Mexico, the availability of raw materials to supply the agri-food industry with basic grains and other products has variations from one year to the next. One of the reasons that affects this supply is the frequent presence of meteorological phenomena suchas hurricanes or high intensity rainfall, which directly affect agricultural crops, causing losses of 50 to 80% of the harvest; In livestock activity, they represent losses of 30% of the livestock. For this reason, the objective of this research was to make an economic valuation through the benefit/cost ratio of a flood prevention plan in Manialtepec, Oaxaca, México, for which surveys and interviews were conducted directly with Producers and authorities of the place. The economic benefits, which in this case are the damages avoided, were estimated obtaining the total cost of damage caused by hurricanes in 2014; While the costs ...

The purpose of this article is to review the scope of the regulatory framework to curb gender-based political violence against indigenous women in Mexico and particularly in the state of Oaxaca. It is concluded that despite the legal transformations and procedures through which attempts have been made to address the problem, there is currently no adequate statistical information that is easily accessible to the public, to accurately measure the impact on structural violence to which indigenous women are subjected. The construction of diagnoses and public policies is proposed under dynamics of horizontal participation with a perspective of legal pluralism and interlegality, in order to enable a broad dialogue between Western law and the radical struggles and transformations that indigenous women claim in their own processes and legal systems.
