The article questions and analyzes some elements of the architectural heritage of the city of Salta, Argentina, from the genealogical perspective and gender studies. The historical heritage is understood as a device that articulates a type of rationality showing subordination of women in the public space. This problem turns out to be a challenge and a focal point at the moment of thinking and creating more egalitarian cities.

From an ethnographic perspective based on participant observation, this paper addresses the pilgrimage on foot to the sanctuary dedicated to the Lord of Sumalao, located almost forty kilometers south of the city of Salta, in the center of the Lerma Valley, in northern Argentina. The sanctuary has maintained its regional role as a trade fair since the colonial period, having grown in importance as a center of pilgrimage, becoming the second most popular religious festivity in Salta. The study carefully collects the spontaneous testimonies of the pilgrims and the vicissitudes of a marathon night walk under freezing winter temperatures, shedding light on the rich nuances of popular Andean devotions and their complex insertion in the multiculturalism of northern Argentina.

Sumalao is a rural area located in the central-eastern sector of the Lerma Valley, a little over 32 km south of the city of Salta, in Argentina. A sanctuary is located there, whose image is a Crucified Christ in the invocation of the Lord of Vilque, originally from Peru, in Puno, a devotion that had great adherence during the colonial era in the Andean space due to the commercial circuits that connected several regions. The devotion arose at the end of the 18th century in connection with the trade of mules, in a combination between a religious calendar and a calendar of economic activities and that is understood in its complexity considering its insertion in the Andean space between the colonial and independent periods.

Se describe un caso de infestación por Tunga penentrans en un canino de un área rural de la ciudad de Salta (Argentina), con el fin de aportar información a la epidemiologia de esta enfermedad a nivel regional. Se recibió en el laboratorio una muestra de piel de un canino mestizo de tres años de edad que mostraba dolor al caminar. En la parte ventral de la almohadilla plantar del miembro izquierdo delantero presentaba un engrosamiento de forma nodular de coloración clara en su periferia con un centro puntiforme de color más oscuro. En el estudio parasitológico se demostró que se trataba de una infestación por T. penetrans. Este reporte se suma a la información ya disponible en la provincia; sin embargo, es la primera documentación de esta presentación en caninos a nivel regional y en un ámbito rural.

Immediately north of Salta city, several streams have their sources on the eastern slopes of the Sierra de Vaqueros, whose piedemonte is urbanized. The man influence on the mountain environment makes it necessary to estimate erosion rates the location of their different erosion classes and their analysis. The work was carried out with satellite images, generating the base map and thematic maps of the Vaqueros and Los Nogales microbasins, through the use of a Geographic Information System (GIS); this allowed to characterize the study areas and to obtain the necessary information to apply the Universal Equation of Soil Loss (USLE). R, K and LS factors were obtained through adaptations of the method, due to the unavailability of data established by authors. En el presente trabajo nos adentramos en la fundación de la ciudad de San Ramón de la Nueva Orán, ocurrida a fines del siglo XVIII, en la frontera este de la Intendencia de Salta del Tucumán. La preocupación por la creación de nuevas ciudades nos permite indagar sobre la construcción del poder institucional, y sobre quiénes fueron los beneficiados en el reparto de ese poder. Uno de los interrogantes que se nos plantea tiene que ver con la relación de la novel ciudad respecto de las vecinas ciudades de Salta, Jujuy y Tarija y cómo influyeron sus élites, cabildos y autoridades en la construcción de poder de la nueva jurisdicción.
