This paper tries to carry out a comparative exercise between the comparisons made by me and those made by the Toba people (qom) of the Argentinean Chaco. I will try to elucidate the tools with which they and I made these comparisons possible. I will refer to three events that occurred during my fieldwork carried out from 1997 to the present. These cases are related to the context of that we may call as “madness”, and that have ontological implications. The events show the contrasts explained by my indigenous interlocutors between a non indigenous and a qom way of conceiving madness-becoming-other. These ethnographic cases will allow us to reflect upon the challenges involved in concentrating on the quid of the comparison from the Toba point of view.

El objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar los parámetros fenológicos del bosque nativo de las subregiones naturales: Chaco Semiárido y Chaco Serrano de la Provincia de Santiago del Estero, Argentina, mediante el software TIEMESAT y la serie temporal de NDVI VEGETATION SPOT. El periodo analizado (1998-2009) fue afectado por El Niño/La Niña, por cuanto fueron considerados dos periodos: húmedo (PH) y seco (PS). Se analizaron muestras del bosque Chaqueño semiárido; del bosque serrano de Guasayán y del bosque serrano de Sumampa- Ambargasta. El bosque Chaqueño semiárido y bosque serrano de Sumampa-Ambargasta tuvieron variaciones en el inicio de las estaciones de crecimiento entre periodos, siendo el más afectado el bosque de Sumampa-Ambargasta. El objetivo del presente trabajo es determinar como la evaluación del camino vecinal permitirá la intervención actualizada del tramo: PE-5N A (Llamaquizu)-Rincón Chacos–Chacos de una longitud de 7.34 kilómetros, haciendo uso de la metodología de enfoque cuantitativo, exploratoria y descriptiva de diseño no experimental ya que se registran datos como daños y deterioros que a lo largo del tramo se observan, como también la descripción del nivel de deterioro de las señalizaciones. Por lo tanto, como resultado el camino vecinal según el Manual de Mantenimiento o Conservación Vial y mediante el uso de la fórmula 500-Σpuntajes promediados, se obtiene 445.10 puntos, que comparado con la tabla 22 de mantenimiento a realizar obtenemos un parámetro de 400 a 500 puntos, el cual indica que está en el rango de conservación rutinario, y por tanto se tiene que realizar un mantenimie...

Este texto intentará llevar adelante un ejercicio de comparación entre las comparaciones efectuadas por mí y aquellas realizadas por mis interlocutores tobas (qom) del Chaco argentino, con miras a dilucidar las herramientas con las cuales ellos y yo las realizamos. Partiré de tres acontecimientos ocurridos durante mi trabajo de campo realizado desde 1997 hasta el presente que remiten al contexto que podríamos calificar como la “locura” y que refieren a cuestiones ontológicas. Los casos expuestos me permitirán mostrar el contraste explicitado por mis interlocutores entre los modos no índigenas (blancos) y qom de concebir la locura-el devenir-otro, y reflexionar sobre los desafíos que implica concentrarse en el quid de la comparación desde el punto de vista de nuestros interlocutores indígenas.

In Argentina, the provinces of Córdoba, Salta and Santiago del Estero are cases of great importance in the context of agribusiness expansion, due to the spectacular loss of biodiversity, the frequent territorial conflicts carried out by indigenous peoples and peasants and, more recently, against the use of agrochemicals and their consequences on human and non-human health. Rufous-tailed Jacamar Galbula ruficauda is known from few records in Paraguay, all during the last 20 years. The species has been recorded in the northern Chaco and Paraguayan Pantanal, with all confirmed records from Alto Paraguay department. Here we summarise all reports and localities of the species in Paraguay to date. The species is categorized as Data Deficient at the national level, but may be more widely distributed than is currently recognised.

On this article we approach the education for indigenous childhood at the Indigenous Reservation napalpí (Chaco, Argentina) between 1911 and 1936, where the first plan of the national state for the confinement and discipline of the subjected natives, members of the Qom, moqoit, shinpi’ peoples, was implemented in a highly conflicting scenario of military campaigns of the national state for controlling the territorial and political indigenous domains of the territory, the expansion of capitalism and the progressive proletarian condition of those populations in the regional farms. Based on the ethnography of qom (toba) communities living on the right bank of the middle Bermejo River, in the ArgentineChaco, I address the relationship of this people with the ñandú (Rhea americana), a bird native to South America and closelylinked to the hunting tradition in the Gran Chaco. I argue that beyond the hunting activity, this relationship is inscribed in the Chaco landscape, in the memories, cosmology and celebrations of the qom people. This case is framed by the contemporary anthropological debate on the classic opposition between practices and ethos of domestication and hunting, that I approach from the context of indigenous feasts and their ability to congregate in the same space-time human relations and prominent links with plant and animal species.
