La investigación arrojó que existe una prevalencia de lesiones cervicales del 1,66%, el 93,9% de mujeres infectadas por el VIH tiene un diagnóstico negativo para lesión cervical, el 4,5% presenta lesión del tipo ASC-US y apenas el 1,5% tiene LSIL. Se obtuvo un 66,7% de mujeres infectadas por el VIH que tuvieron una carga viral considerada indetectable, un 3,0% tuvo entre 40 y < 400 copias/mL, un 12,1% tuvo entre 400 y 10000 copias/mL y el 18,2% presentó más de 10000 copias/mL; concluyendo que la aparición de las lesiones cervicales en mujeres con VIH no están asociadas al tipo o cantidad de su carga viral
