description El proyecto del Nuevo Mercado Central del Callao nace por la necesidad de mejorar la infraestructura dedicada a esta tipología en el corazón del distrito chalaco. Para lograr esto se intervino la actual ubicación del Mercado Central cuya antigüedad se ve reflejada en una funcionalidad descontinuada. Sin embargo, entendiendo el arraigo característico de la población del Callao, el proyecto plantea conservar el perímetro existente del actual mercado, el cual cuenta con un evidente valor monumental, repotenciando su importancia con nuevos usos propios del entendimiento de los usuarios de la zona. Complementario a esto se plantea un diseño arquitectónico totalmente nuevo el interior del mercado, el cual se adapta al perímetro existente tanto a nivel formal y espacial, así como con una propuesta funcional que incluye usos comerciales, gastronómicos y recreativos.

In order to achieve this intention, the actual location of the Central Market was intervened. The main problem was that its antiquity reflected itself with a discontinued functionality. However, through a understanding of the characteristic roots of the population of Callao, the project aims to preserve the existing perimeter of the actual market, which has a evident monumental value, repowering its relevance with new uses adapted for the population of the area. Complementary to this action, a completely new architectural design at the interior of the market rises. This space approach adapts to the existing perimeter in a formal level, but in a functional level as well.
