Descripción
Sumario:This study's main objective is to know the relationship between the discomfort associated with Obsessive Compulsive symptoms and parenting components perceived by adolescents in a school educational institution. The sample is represented by 181 students, 83 men and 99 women, 4th and 5th year of secondary school in Lima. Two instruments were used, the scale of parenting styles of Steinberg (1991) adapted by Merino (2004), which measures the perception of teenagers about commitment, behavioral control and psychological autonomy from their parents, these subscales have adequate internal consistency: .82, .67 and .60, respectively; also explained 35.49% of variance, with loads exceeding .30. The inventory of obsessions and compulsions (Foa et al., 2002) adapted by Fullana et al. (2005) and Malpica (2009) evaluates the discomfort associated with obsessive compulsive symptoms presenting an internal consistency of .72, explaining 18.21% of variance, with loads that range between .30 and 55. Controlled for sex, school grade and age, we found that significant positive correlation (r = .27, p < .001) between the subscales Commitment and Behavioral Control, while the Obsessions and Compulsions scale has a significant negative correlation (r = - .20, p < .01) with the Psychological Autonomy subscale.
