Serological and molecular detection of dengue virus in animals: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Descripción del Articulo

Introduction: Dengue is a vector-borne disease, especially important in tropical and subtropical areas. The first presentation of many arboviral diseases occurred mainly in animals, including multiple Alphaviruses and Flaviviruses, such as dengue. The first presentation of many arboviral diseases occurred mainly in animals, including multiple Alphaviruses and Flaviviruses, such as dengue. Objective: To determine the serological and molecular frequency of the dengue virus in animals. Methods: A systematic literature review was carried out in five databases for the proportion of animals infected with dengue, defined by molecular and serological tests. A meta-analysis was performed using a randomeffects model to calculate the pooled prevalence and 95% confidence intervals (CI). Cochran?s Q test and the I2 statistic were used to assess the heterogeneity between the two studies. Results: The presence of dengue in bats, primates, birds, sheep, horses, cattle, pigs, rodents and buffaloes, according to serological methods, had a prevalence of 10%, 29%, 8%, 1%, 11%, 0%, 49%, 2%, 7%, respectively. According to molecular methods, the presence of dengue in bats had a seroprevalence of 6.0%. Conclusion: The present study confirms the presence of the Dengue virus in a large group of animal species, with potential implications as possible reservoirs of this virus, raising the possibility of zoonotic transmission.Revisión por paresapplication/pdfengEDIMES Edizioni Medico Scientificheinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC)Repositorio Academico - UPCInfezioni in Medicina322183201reponame:UPC-Institucionalinstname:Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadasinstacron:UPCand meta-analysisAnimalsdenguesystematic reviewviruszoonosishttps://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#3.00.00Serological and molecular detection of dengue virus in animals: A systematic review and meta-analysisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlehttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a8012024-09-24T00:33:01ZPublicationORIGINALVol_32_2_2024_7.pdfVol_32_2_2024_7.pdfapplication/pdf3911832https://upc.dspace7.openrepository.com/bitstreams/17f42a8c-e938-53b1-b0fc-63e18b6424f9/download052cf28850d8135fd9a9c293cbfc1653MD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml; charset=utf-8805https://upc.dspace7.openrepository.com/bitstreams/748db3e8-ef11-5237-ac82-43cab65ba317/download4460e5956bc1d1639be9ae6146a50347MD52THUMBNAILVol_32_2_2024_7.pdf.jpgVol_32_2_2024_7.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg123171https://upc.dspace7.openrepository.com/bitstreams/6826c833-4714-5c2c-bee0-364ebbf51257/download39f7a3ba5cbacc5fd8663e8161c01c9aMD55LICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain; charset=utf-81748https://upc.dspace7.openrepository.com/bitstreams/1209b5f0-5acc-5fb4-b02d-ed20160386f7/download8a4605be74aa9ea9d79846c1fba20a33MD53TEXTVol_32_2_2024_7.pdf.txtVol_32_2_2024_7.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain52750https://upc.dspace7.openrepository.com/bitstreams/cb581a52-a1cf-5fd2-bb96-e7c344dce2f7/downloade6c52b7e7be66e1760c07fe5cc846ba0MD5410757/675840oai:upc.dspace7.openrepository.com:10757/6758402026-02-17 17:39:09.684http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessopen.accesshttps://upc.dspace7.openrepository.comRepositorio académico upcrepositorioacademico@upc.edu.pe
