Los hechos ocurrieron el 13 de agosto de 2015. Tras la investigación del Ministerio Público, el Juzgado de Investigación Preparatoria dictó el auto de enjuiciamiento y el caso pasó a juicio oral, donde se presentaron pruebas, alegatos y defensa del acusado. El Juzgado Colegiado finalmente condenó a H.C.H.F.M. a ocho años de prisión efectiva y al pago de una reparación civil de S/. 3,000 a favor de la víctima. El sentenciado apeló la decisión, pero la Sala Superior Penal confirmó la condena.
