| Sumario: | Maternal factors associated with low birth weight - Hospital San José de Chincha July - December 2018. Objective: To determine the maternal factors associated with LBW in term newborns of mothers attended at the San José de Chincha Hospital in the period from July to December 2018. Methodology: In this investigation the retrospective cross-sectional case control method was used in the period from July to December 2018. The average sample size was carried out based on the number of cases found, which there were 23, which were related to the controls, which were 23 in the same way. Odds ratio (OR) was used with a 95% confidence interval. The instrument used in the present investigation was a data collection sheet. The clinical histories of the puerperal women and the Perinatal Card were accessed. Results: Among the results were found: Among the sociodemographic factors the most represented maternal age was between 18 to 29 years of age (OR = 1.6; 95% CI: 0.4-6.9), that is, the In terms of preconception factors, young age was found to have inadequate pre-pregnancy nutritional status (OR = 1.8; 95% CI: 0.3-8.8) and among the conceptional factors, the number of inadequate prenatal care, with an (OR = 1.1 95% CI: 0.3-3.8), which are associated with the LBW of the present study. Conclusions: The present investigation led us to know that the fundamental factors associated with LBW were sociodemographic, preconceptional and conceptional factors, including: maternal age, inadequate pre-pregnancy nutritional status and insufficient number of prenatal care. |
