Resultados: No se apreciaron diferencias significativas en relación con las variables edad materna, grado de paridad ni procedencia entre las gestantes de uno u otro grupo de estudio. La ffrecuencia de diabetes gestacional en pacientes con gestación múltiple fue de 11%. La ffrecuencia de diabetes gestacional en pacientes sin gestación múltiple fue de 5%. La gestación múltiple es factor de riesgo para diabetes gestacional con un riesgo relativo de 2.28 el cual fue significativo (p<0.05). Conclusiones: La gestación múltiple es factor de riesgo para diabetes gestacional en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo.

The study population consisted of a cohort of 142 pregnant women with a multiple pregnancy and a second made up of 142 pregnant women with simple pregnancy cohort; for the statistical analysis of qualitative variables according to the design used the Chi-square test and the type of association using relative risk. Results: There were no significant differences in relation to the variables maternal age, degree of parity or origin between the pregnant women of one or the other study group. The frequency of gestational diabetes in patients with multiple gestation was 11%. The frequency of gestational diabetes in patients without multiple gestation was 5%. Multiple gestation is a factor associated with gestational diabetes with a relative risk of 2.28 which was significant (p <0.05).
