Se aplicó un cuestionario de 20 preguntas cuya validación fue 1.000 según prueba V de Aiken con una confiabilidad de 0.716 según el coeficiente Kuder y Richardson (KR-20). Los datos obtenidos fueron presentados y analizados mediante estadística descriptiva. Resultados: El 37% de cirujanos dentistas logró un nivel de conocimiento suficiente. Las mujeres consiguieron mayor nivel de conocimiento que los varones. Los profesionales de 21 a 39 años lograron un nivel superior que los mayores de 50 años. El 50% de cirujanos dentistas entre 5 a 10 años de ejercicio profesional lograron un nivel de conocimiento bueno, mientras que el 62% con más de 10 años de experiencia obtuvieron un nivel insuficiente. Respecto al sector laboral, el 64% del sector público tuvieron un nivel de conocimiento inferior, a comparación de aquellos que laboran en el sector privado y mixto. Y de acuerdo a la especialidad, los endodoncistas encuestados alcanzaron un nivel de conocimiento mayor que odontólogos de práctica general. Material and methods: The observational and cross-sectional study evaluated 114 dental surgeons, who were chosen through a type of non-probabilistic convenience sampling. A questionnaire of 20 questions was applied whose validation was 1,000 according to Aiken's V test with a reliability of 0.716 according to the Kuder and Richardson coefficient (KR-20). The data obtained were presented and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: 37% of dental surgeons achieved a sufficient level of knowledge. Women achieved a higher level of knowledge than men. Professionals from 21 to 39 years of age achieved a higher level than those over 50 years of age. 50% of dental surgeons between 5 to 10 years of professional practice achieved a good level of knowledge, while 62% with more than 10 years of experience obtained an insufficient level. Regarding the labor sector, 64% of the public sector had a lower level of knowledge, compared to those who work in the private and mixed sectors. And according to the specialty, the endodontists surveyed reached a higher level of knowledge than general practice dentists.
