Resultados: La frecuencia de diabetes mellitus en los pacientes con y sin cáncer de vejiga fue de 20% y 11% respectivamente. El odds ratio de diabetes mellitus en relación a cáncer de vejiga fue de 1.97 (p<0.05). Conclusiones: La diabetes mellitus es un factor de riesgo asociado a cáncer de vejiga en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo. No existieron diferencias significativas entre los grupos de estudio en relación a edad, sexo y procedencia.

The study population was conformed for 469 patients inclusion and exclusion criteries distributed in 2 groups: with or without bladder cancer. Results: The frequency of diabetes mellitus with and without bladeer cancer was 20% and 11% respectively. Diabetes mellitus odds ratio related to bladder cancer was 1.97 (p<0.05). Conclusions: Diabetes mellitus is a risk factor associated to bladder cancer in patients at Belen Trujillo Hospital.
