La población de estudio estuvo constituida por 110 pacientes con trauma abdominal penetrante según criterios de inclusión y exclusión establecidos distribuidos en dos grupos: con y sin injuria renal aguda. Resultados: La frecuencia de mortalidad en los pacientes con y sin injuria renal aguda fue de 20% y 7% respectivamente. El riesgo relativo de injuria renal aguda en relación a mortalidad intrahospitalaria fue de 2.75 (p<0.05). Conclusiones: La injuria renal aguda es un factor de riesgo de mortalidad en pacientes con trauma abdominal penetrante en el Hospital Belén de Trujillo. No se encontraron diferencias significativas en relación a edad, sexo y procedencia entre ambos grupos de estudio.
