RESULTADOS: La edad menor de 60 años, OR=1,902 (1,493-2,424) p=0.000; el sexo femenino, OR=2,804 (IC 95% 1,829-4,301 p=0.000; el tiempo de enfermedad >10 años, OR=1,74 (1,03-2,49) p=0.00; el mal control glicémico, OR=2,25 (1,053- 5,653) p=0.047; la no presencia de obesidad, OR=1,505 (IC 95% 1,088-2,083) p=0.006; la necesidad de tratamiento con insulina, OR=2,826 (1,043-7,653) p=0.029; la presencia de neuropatía, OR=4,31 (IC 95% 1,373 -13,571) p=0.007 son factores de riesgo de infección de vías urinarias en adultos con diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Ninguno de los pacientes estudiados tuvo diagnóstico de vejiga neurogénica. CONCLUSIONES: La edad menor de 60 años, el sexo femenino, el tiempo de enfermedad >10 años, el mal control glicémico, los insulinorrequirientes y la neuropatía diabética son factores de riesgo de infección urinaria en adultos con diabetes mellitus tipo 2.
