The present work has been developed in the province of Tarapoto with its districts of principal tourist affluence. and whose principal objective was discover the properties of the tourism in the socioeconomic development of the population linked to the tourist activity. The methodology utilized was the documentary analysis, the quizzes application to the works. the direct observation and interview to the businessmen; it has allowed the obtaining of the information about the tourism's properties than have influence in the socioeconomic development of the population linked to the tourist activity in the province of San Martín. At the present time the tourist activity in the province San Martin is a generating economic foreign exchanges source, however it is necessary to examine its profit and opposing view in order to emphasizing development of the destination, under parameters of integrative sustainable development; utilizing a participative planification. responsible, compromising in which technology is applied according to the reality of the province without losing identity, moral values and the population's cultural manifestations linked to this activity. The analysis of the tourism's impact in the provinces of San Martín as factor of socioeconomic development, it allows measuring the growth level and development socioeconomic of the population liked to the tourist activity, evaluating the relation grade among the variables to investigate as the level of satisfaction of the basic necessities (nutrition, housing, clothed. health, leisure), quality of lite, employment generation and contribution to the PBI. The principal in contributor in making a contribution to the is PBI is the tourism sector. Concluding with the present work than the principal sector in generating bigger economic movement in the province of San Martin and in the population linked to the tourist activity is the service sector.
