Sumario: | This experimental to show the lightening and cost savings and construction processes by using the Topa (Balsa) as lightening in reinforced concrete slabs study; It was held in the city of Tarapoto, San Martin - Peru, during the months of January and June del2003. Through a non-probability sampling intentional or selective type, timber samples from a forest in the district of Tres Unidos, Province of Picota, San Martin Region were selected; the same that were used in assays to determine physical and mechanical properties of the Topa; and building blocks Topa Type Drawer and compact, used as lightening in building slab mezzanine (6m2). The physical and mechanical tests developed in the laboratory for testing materials of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the National University of Engineering (UNI -Lima) complying with Peruvian Technical Standards. Physical tests for moisture content, absorption content, specific gravity, density, and contraction were performed. Mechanical testing of parallel compression, compression perpendicular, parallel traction, perpendicular cut and static bending; calculations of modulus of rupture, fiber stress at proportional limit and load curves vs deformation .. The lightened slab was built in the materials testing laboratory of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the National University of San Martin (Tarapoto UNSM- ), according to specifications and acceptable technical standards. calculations structural design, beams and costing and budget were made; in floor slabs with stumbles blocks (drawer type and compact type) and floor slabs with teknopor blocks and concrete hollow blocks, the same as they were compared to each other. For the various calculations and analyzes performed in this study, statistics of central tendency, dispersion, formulas, graphics and software measures were used: EXCEL, WORD and S lO v 1.0 ~ The results determine that the Topa or Palo Balsa is not a structural wood but can be used as a lightening in the construction of floor slabs; economic analysis confirms the reduction of costs and construction processes especially when Topa drawer-type blocks are used, so that should be stimulated the cultivation, processing and marketing of Topa as lightening material for construction of floor slabs and others. |
