The carrier of those who managed to exercise the musical profession will be revised; likewise, it will be demonstrated how gender roles were reproduced in the educational field, and in a particular way, in a musical institution. The time frame of this research ranges from 1908, the year when the National Academy of Music was created under the protection of an influential Peruvian ruling class attached to the Civil Political Party, until 1919, the year when the mandate of the civilian president José Pardo ended.El presente artículo pretende realizar un análisis de cómo los roles de género han configurado las preferencias musicales e instrumentales de los primeros estudiantes de la Academia Nacional de Música, institución que abrió paso a la profesionalización de las mujeres en el arte musical en un contexto de dominio y de prácticas patriarcales, pero también de transformaciones en el acceso de las mujeres a la esfera pública. Se repasará la trayectoria de aquellas que lograron ejercer la profesión musical; asimismo, se dará cuenta de cómo los roles de género fueron reproducidos en el ámbito educativo, y de manera particular en una institución musical.
