description ABSTRACT With the supply of probiotics (microbial home cultivation) in white rats the Holtzman strain, from biotechnology Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo could increase the productive indexes: final weight, weight gain and body surface. Different from the animal control model and the treatments with different diets (local diet and formulated diet), the components of the microbial cultivation were: whey, molasses, mineral salts, urea and water that were added (later fermentation) at 0.2% (T3) and 0.4% of (T4) in daily drinking water and voluntary consumption, feeding the treatments was: T0 barley grains, split corn, T1 diet of laboratory rodents formulated (homemade pellets), diet commercial T2 - T4 of laboratory rodents. The investigation was started with weaned male animals (21 days old) until 56 days of life, reaching a final weight of 158.08 ± 7.24 g, 149.2 ± 7.08 g and 135.72 ± 7.58 g, a weight gain of 134.77 ± 7.24 g, 125.89 ± 7.08 g and 112.41 ± 7.58 g, achieving a body surface area of 10.82 ± 0.5 cm2, 10.22 ± 0.49 cm2 and 9.3 ± 0.52 cm2 for treatments T4, T3 and T2, respectively. The commercial diet of laboratory rodents plus 0.4% of probiotics obtained greater weight gain with 69.06 g and 4.72 cm2 of body surface compared to the local diet (T4 versus T0). Differentiation of the variables: length of the villi (180.56 ± 8.49 μm versus 261.5 ± 8.49 μm), GV (64.17 ± 1.96 μm vs 68.33 ± 1.96 μm), depth of the Lieberkühn crypt (91.22 ± 2.25 μm vs 84.94 ± 2.25 μm) ) surface area of the intestinal villi of the duodenum (36.76 ± 0.49 μm2 vs 56.72 ± 2.49 μm2), reaching (15.81 ± 0.57 villi / mm vs 15.01 ± 0.57 villi / mm) for villus density and intestinal index higher (ratio between LV / crypt) of 2.01 ± 0.07 vs 3.08 ± 0.07 of treatments T4 and T0, respectively, the weight increase and body surface are attributed to a better intestinal health and integrity that is provided by complementing Lactobacillus spp . 27 x 103 CFU / mL per day, recommending its use in laboratory animals to increase its productive indicators. The morphometric indicators of the villi of the intestine (duodenum) of importance were reflected in T3 (probiotic 0.2%) with a greater length of the villi (LV) of 255.5 ± 8.49 μm, lower thickness of the villi (GV) with 55.72 ± 1.96 μm, obtaining the highest number of villi with 18.38 ± 0.57 hairs / mm in the variable density of the villi, achieving a good final weight of 149.2 ± 7.08 g.
