Sumario:SUMMARY Objective: The present study determined the existence of microbial contamination in endodontic guttapercha cones of seals sealed by the manufacturer.Material and Method: A total of 96 gutta percha cones from Peruvian brands Metabiomed, Dentsply, Endomedic, Gapadent, where the incubation of the guttapercha cones in BHI broth was carried out, after 48h incubation, were analyzed individually , To see if turbidity was present or not. Samples with presence of turbidity were seeded in the culture medium Blood agar, after 48h of incubation the samples were analyzed and those with presence of microbial growth were made Gram staining After this was carried under the microscope, where it was observed if they are Gram positive or Gram negative, morphology and clustering of bacteria.Result: The microbial contamination was only present in 8.3% of the cones of the Gutaperchas brand Endomedic. In the other brands, no contaminated cone was found. In the Endomedic brand was found a cone with Gram positive microbial contamination and another with Gram negative microbial contamination, representing 4.2% of the total cones of this brand. Conclusions: Microbial contamination occurred in one of the brands of endodontic guttapercha cones sealed by the manufacturer.
